Entourage writer Doug Ellin has revealed that Bad Santa 2 aims to be in production this Autumn. The sequel to the successful 2003 foul-mouthed Christmas comedy has been in development for years, encountering many problems along the way.
Ellin, who was brought in to replace original writers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, revealed in an interview with Collider:
I’m supposed to do Bad Santa 2 in September…the exact status is we’re working on the script right now and if we get it right, we’ll shoot in September or October. Billy Bob is back and good to go, and that’s the status.
The writer/director remained tight lipped about the plot of the film but did reveal that it would have “hopefully a similar tone to the first one”.
It’s probably best not to get too excited yet due to the precarious history this film has had but this is the most concrete evidence that it might actually happen at some point in the future.
