He’s already brought us “The Cornetto Trilogy” and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Next writer-director Edgar Wright is bringing us a crime thriller entitled Baby Driver and he may just have found a rising star for a key role.
THR reports that Cinderella rising star Lily James is in talks to join Wright’s crime thriller, joining the already cast Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars, Divergent Series). The film is about, “a young mute man who has an ear condition that forces him to constantly listen to music in order to drown out the constant ringing in his ears. His character is a driver for a group of bank robbers who goes on the run after a heist goes bad.”
Unsurprisingly, James is set to play Elgort’s love interest and a waitress in a diner who will play a big part in the lead character’s motivations throughout what sounds like a thrilling and quite unusual plot. As well as leading the now half billion-grossing Cinderella and becoming a period drama favourite due to her role in Downton Abbey, James is set to star in the upcoming adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
I am very curious to see what Wright delivers with this project, not just because the above plot description promises another great soundtrack from the man (Scott Pilgrim still has one of the best movie soundtracks of the 21st century thus far) but it also looks to be a much more straight and serious film than we’re used to from him.
