First-time writer/director Bryan O’Neil recently debuted his film Booked Out on DVD and Blu-ray, and in various theatrical screenings where he also conducted live Q&As. Focusing on a young woman and her relationship with the young man across the hall from her and her grieving upstairs neighbour, the film is a charming and hugely enjoyable little film that shows true promise for its writer and director (read our DVD review here).

Video: 2012 Movie Trailer Mashup 0 891

Video - 2012 Movie Trailer Mashup

It’s become a staple of the year’s end when some of the talented video editors of the online world come out to play and deliver their mashups of all the movies released throughout the year.

Below I’ve highlighted the best one I’ve come across so far, courtesy of the brilliant Sleepy Skunk. It must take a lot of painstaking hours and a whole load of patience just to create one of these things never mind actually making it great in the process. Check out the awesome mashup video below:

Retro: Vertigo Dream Sequence 0 2917

Retro - Vertigo Dream Sequence

Retro is a regular feature highlighting the classics, whether that be an original trailer, poster, still image or classic scene.

As you no doubt have read by now Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1958 film Vertigo has unseated Citizen Kane after five decades as the greatest film of all time in Sight & Sound’s critics poll. Having just recently rewatched the film it’s not difficult to see why it’s finally found its way to the top spot.

In celebration of Vertigo’s now monumental standing within the film world I have decided to highlight, as part of our Retro feature, the dizzying dream sequence found in the film. A unique, standalone signature sequence to add to the Hitch list alongside the shower scene in Psycho (to name but one), it’s truly a wonder to behold.
