Paul Feig is about to unleash upon the world his next sure-fire hit comedy Spy, starring his go-to funnylady Mellisa McCarthy. But after that it looks like he’s going to be teaming up with another one of America’s premium comediennes.
THR reports that Feig is going to produce an as-yet-untitled mother-daughter themed comedy that will be written by and star Amy Schumer, the so-hot-right-now actress and writer of the upcoming Judd Apatow-directed comedy Trainwreck.
Plot details are thin on the ground but it’s said to be an action comedy in the vein of Feig’s The Heat, centering around a mother and daughter trapped on a disaster-filled vacation. Schumer will rewrite the script, alongside sister Kim Caramele, from a first draft written by The Heat’s Katie Dippold. No director has been picked as of yet (could Feig step in?).
The comedienne has been making a real name for herself in American comedy over the last few years, appearing on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Comedy Central’s Reality Bites Back and Adult Swim series Delocated, as well as currently featuring on her own sketch series Inside Amy Schumer. She’s not yet as big of a name over here in the UK but if Apatow’s Trainwreck is a hit and this new Feig-produced comedy follows suit, then that could very well change.
Trainwreck is set for release on August 28th. There’s no date on the new comedy yet.
