James Gunn has completed the first draft of the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 script, according to his social media feeds.
Gunn, who wrote and directed the first film, has been very active on Twitter over the past couple of weeks, answering fan questions about the status of the sequel to the unexpected Marvel hit. He tweeted the following:
It’s interesting to note that he’s included that won’t be the actual title (Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Galaxy Harder?). Marvel Studios will be remaining tight-lipped about the plot of the film, however Gunn hinted that it will be different to the comics in an interview with Den of Geek:
You’ll have to wait and see but it’s very different. There are things in the comic book that on film seem to come out a little too Star Wars to me. I’m not a great fan of the name J’son. So there’ll be a lot of differences from what’s in there.
The plan is for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 to enter production in London early next year and most of the original cast – including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Bradley Cooper – are expected to return. Marvel has set a release date of 5th of May 2017.
